St. Kilda

The St. Kilda group lie some 41 (statute) miles from the nearest point on the Hebrides and consist of all the islands shown on the map above.  As a scale, Boreray is 4 miles nor'east of the main island.
There have been no permanent inhabitants on St. Kilda since their evacuation in 1930.  If you, the reader, are interested to learn more of this history, I can suggest no better book, in my opinion, than "St. Kilda ~ Island on the Edge of the World" by Charles MacLean which I have read three times now, learning more about these fascinating islands on each occasion.  You could also take a look at http://www.kilda.org.uk and there are many other websites as well on this subject.

I'll get here one day . . . . .
